In the coastal town of Oceanside, CA, anticipation hangs thick in the air as Marine veteran Buddy Rushing and Air Force veteran Justin Loutfy prepare to tackle the formidable challenge of IRONMAN Oceanside. United by a shared commitment to a cause greater than themselves, the duo aims to raise $100,000 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). With backgrounds etched in military service, Buddy and Justin carry the weight of their experiences onto the starting line, where every stroke, pedal, and stride represents not only a physical test but a poignant journey to support the families who have sacrificed for their nation. As the sun rises on race day, their mission unfolds, weaving a narrative of resilience, camaraderie, and the unyielding spirit of service.

The Goal

The goal for these two competitors is to raise $100,000 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is a compassionate and vital organization dedicated to providing comfort, care, and support to those grieving the loss of a military loved one. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by families who have lost a service member, TAPS offers a comprehensive range of programs and resources encompassing emotional support, grief counseling, and community-building initiatives. Through its commitment to healing and resilience, TAPS extends a helping hand to navigate the complex emotions and difficulties that arise in the aftermath of military loss, fostering a sense of connection and understanding among those who have shared in the sacrifice of their loved ones’ service.
